Configuring and Using Cassandra Audit Logs (Compliance Checks)
What is an Audit Log?
An audit log is a log that records data storage, processing, and access behaviors, used to monitor system security and compliance.
Audit Log Configuration
1. Set Audit Log Storage Location: In Cassandra, this can be achieved by writing logs to an audit.log file or using third-party log processing tools.
2. Define Audit Log Format: The format of audit logs can be defined based on system requirements, including the fields to be recorded and log levels (e.g., INFO, WARNING, ERROR, etc.).
3. Configure Log Output Method: This can be implemented by setting logs to be output to a file or a network.
Usage of Audit Logs
1. Record System Events: When the system executes any event, relevant information must be recorded to facilitate subsequent auditing and compliance checks.
2. Set Log Levels: Log levels (e.g., INFO, WARNING, ERROR, etc.) can be adjusted based on system requirements to filter out unnecessary logs.
3. Regularly Review Logs: Log files or interfaces must be reviewed regularly to ensure the system is operating normally.
Compliance Checks
1. Check Log Storage Location: Ensure the log storage location is legal, reliable, and not accidentally cleared.
2. Verify Log Content: Verify that the log content is accurate to avoid issues such as data errors or loss.
3. Adhere to Information Security Standards: Must comply with relevant information security standards and regulations, such as GDPR, HIPAA, etc.
Migration to Cassandra
1. Use CQL Features: CQL (Cassandra Query Language) can be utilized to define the storage location and format of audit logs.
2. Set Log Levels and Filters: Filters and levels within CQL can be used to control log output and filtering.
3. Implement Data Encryption: Data encryption technologies, such as AES, can be used when storing logs to enhance data security.
