Computer Bus
In the broad sense, any wire connecting two or more electronic components can be referred to as a bus.
Classification of Buses
- Internal Bus: Used for interconnection at the chip level, subdivided into on-chip buses and component-level buses. On-chip buses are used to connect various parts within an integrated circuit chip, while component-level buses are used to connect various components on a single printed circuit board.
- System Bus: Used for interconnection at the expansion card level, serving to establish connections between the various components of a computer (such as the CPU, memory, and interfaces).
- External Bus: Also known as a communication bus, used for interconnection at the device level to facilitate information and data exchange with other devices via this bus.
